Testimonials

Revolution Basketball makes Sundays way more fun, and gives us all something to look forward to. Andy has built a great community with Revolution, and I feel blessed to be a part of it!

  • Liam Walsh

What makes revolution basketball so special to me is the community building. With the rise of male loneliness especially after the pandemic there isn’t a lot of places outside of work that encourage positive social relationships but revolution gives us just that with a platform to collaborate and compete with people from all different backgrounds.

Revolution has impacted me positively both physically and mentally. Basketball is physically taxing and a good workout. I find joy in playing basketball and being in a basketball environment having games once a week really gives me something to look forward to during a long week.

  • Tavian Barrino

"I've been playing in the revolution since the beginning. To see what Andy has built from nothing is exactly what this state needed.

I can say with absoluteness that Revolution basketball has helped guys and gals at the high school through the professional level. Thank you to Andy and the staff!"

  • Devin Bradford

What makes revolution basketball special is the fact that it’s brought together a community who all share the same love for basketball.

Revolution basketball has impacted me by giving me the opportunity to continue playing the game I love. It’s a great outlet for me to not only compete on the court but to be around guys who have become my close friends.

  • Matthew Spear

The thing that makes Revolution basketball so special is that it’s like a huge brotherhood. I have made so many friends and brothers over the past 2 years that I’ve been in the league. It allows us to keep playing competitively as we get older which wasn’t really before this league started.

Revolution basketball has impacted me personally because it allows me to still play the game that I love at a competitive level. I thought after multiple extensive injuries that I thought my playing competitive days were over until I heard about this league.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that—when you really zoom out—all of my interests are, largely, about one thing: community. Whether it’s my weekly trivia league, coaching sports, going to the gym, work itself, or volunteering—it’s the communities around these activities that make them worth building, maintaining, and devoting time to. This same thinking applies to Revolution Basketball (RB), a Vermont-based basketball league that I have been lucky to be a part of for ten years. At RB, Andy Busono has carefully nurtured a thriving basketball community for over a decade, creating a competitive outlet for people who love the game but whose days of organized hoops would otherwise be behind them.

I find that, what makes RB special, is simple: It gives us all a chance to keep being on a team, something that is so vital to our lives growing up, but usually disappears as soon as you graduate high school. The simple act of being part of something bigger than yourself, to me, is the biggest motivator to keep playing. Each week, I find that—even though I certainly do want to win—winning isn’t necessarily the main thing I care about. What I care about is the opportunity to share the court with my friends and family, so when we lose by 35 (likely) or win by 10 (unlikely), I still feel fulfilled by the experience, because I got to play the game I love with people I love—an opportunity that, with some many rec leagues and men’s leagues fading away, is only provided by RB.

So, what makes RB special? The camaraderie, the competitiveness, and the opportunity to lose by 50 and still be excited to get out there next weekend.

Revolution Basketball (RB) is so core to the rhythm of my week that it is hard to even pinpoint how it has exactly impacted me. My Sunday mornings are so regularly spent with my teammates that the off-season feels unfamiliar and empty. But, if I had to say how it has impacted me, I would say that it has impacted me most by giving me something to care about and as a way to spend quality time with my friends; those are the things that really make it special. Sure, it is wonderful to have the opportunity to play alongside my teammates every week, but the time we spend talking about that week’s matchup is often even more rewarding. It’s something that keeps us connected all week: Figuring out who is going to carpool with whom, figuring out who we have that week, deciding who is going to guard whom in the days leading up to the game, getting food after the games, etc. etc. It is all of these little things that happen around the game that leave the biggest impact on me week after week. I credit RB for getting me to still care about my jumpshot—a care that often motivates me to get into the gym and shoot around to make sure I can still contribute a little bit to my team; I credit RB for keeping me in touch with friends that I otherwise would seldom see; I credit RB for giving me something to look forward to week after week and year after year.

Revolution basketball can be counted on. Revolution is the only consistent, reliable outlet for competitive basketball in Vermont. Without RB so may of us basketball lovers would have no way to enjoy our favorite sport year round.

By playing revolution basketball I have gotten better season after season. Improvement in play & connecting with this basketball community here at Revolution basketball has been a positive addition to my life since joining 3 years ago.

Revolution Basketball is special because it brings together a community of talented basketball players in a competitive setting, giving us all something to look forward to each week.

Revolution Basketball has given me the opportunity to stay active as I get older. Basketball has always been a central part of my life and my identity, and I’m happy and grateful that my kids now get to watch their dad play the game that shaped who I am.

  • Chris Cayole

What makes revolution special is the amount of talent there is in the league each session. The teams are draft style which makes each team well balanced and you constantly take on a challenge each week. It helps me individually stay in shape and stay playing the game of basketball. Out of all the leagues, revolution has the top spot. Feels like a family when you show up each Sunday.

  • Brandon Bigelow

Revolution is special as it gave people an opportunity to grow a community while playing basketball in an environment that didn't exist before.

Revolution has impacted me by giving me an opportunity to continue to be competitive in the sport of basketball when it seemed like that opportunity was over.
